Knit Together Donations for 2020:

 

Our group donated 19 shawls, 19 hats, 13 lap throws, 2 afghans, and 14 "Nite-Nite" kits (each child's bag has a lap throw blanket, stuffed toy and children's book) for a grand total of 67 items. Items went to Haven Hospice, Ronald McDonald House and the KniTogether Comfort Program. Special "thank you"s go to Peg O, for yarn and Susan B. for yarn and knitted items. 

The Knit  Together Comfort Program: The comfort program is part of our group's charity drive. (Haven Hospice, Ronald McDonald House, Helping Hands Pet Rescue, local Homeless programs and additional Yarnsworks charities also receive items.) But we also knit items for individuals that are going through a hard time throughout the year, and the recipients can be anyone we know, not just someone in our group. It's our way to reach out to individuals, not just the bigger organizations. I take donations of yarn & items for our knitted donations.

Skol Coasters

 

“A toast, Skol (written "skål" in Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish and "skál" in Faroese and Icelandic or "skaal" in transliteration of any of those languages) is the Danish/Norwegian/Swedish word for "cheers," or "good health," a salute or a toast, as to an admired person or group.” (Source: Wikipedia)

 A perfect name for these wool coasters that can be felted or left as is for hearty dimensions (as pictured). A simple basketweave pattern that is both pleasing and easy enough for even the beginner knitter - just knits and purls. And what a perfect time of year to celebrate. Skol!

Gable Beret Pattern

The beret is a style that is timeless. I designed the Gable Beret after a small diameter beret that my husband bought decades ago and still looks spectacular. An easy-peasy in-the-round knit with simple, low-tech blocking instructions included.

Wasabi Fingerless Gloves

Happy November!

Wasabi is an easy in-the-round project with a chunky yarn that are roomy enough for men. These can be knit up in an evening and be in use the next morning. Wasabi gloves are sans a thumb gusset for the simplest of fingerless glove construction. No chunky yarn? Autumn Woods Hat

I’ve made several changes to the basic pattern of my Winter Woods Hat pattern and come up with a lighter version for Fall weather. It doesn’t matter which direction your cables go - I knit Right Cross cables when I have a cable needle and Left Cross cables when I cable without a needle. So whatever you like, keep the knitting enjoyable and you will end up with a timeless hat that even guys like to wear.

Twist Stitch Technique Video

There are many beautiful twist stitch patterns that resemble cable techniques but are simpler to knit since you don't need a cable needle.  

It's simply knitting 2 or more stitches our of order to produce either a left or right twist stitch. 

Because you are twisting the stitches, the knitted fabric will draw in horizontally, just like cabling. Be sure to check your gauge.

Luminous Cowl Pattern

A wonderfully soft cowl that is as much a joy to knit as it is to wear. A mere 59 grams makes it light enough for wearing indoors as an accessory, but it is long enough to fold and tuck inside your jacket to enjoy the warmth of the merino and mohair.
