 Charity Donations for 2022:

 

Knit Together donated 124 items: 31 Nite-Nite Totes (blanket, stuffed toy and book), 23 hats, 16 shawls/wraps, 24 bookmarks, 15 blankets/afghans, 6 scarves and 9 pet bed rolls. Recipients were Haven Hospice, Ronald McDonald House, PetSmart Pet Rescue, Stephen Foster Elementary Library and our Comfort Program. Many Thanks to Nina G., Susan B., Lucy T., Peg O., Don G., Ginger W. and Shirley M. for yarn, knitted donations and delivery. Thank you so much for making this a productive year!!!

Beginner Knitting Lessons

I am currently offering an hour knitting lesson for beginners in an outside, open air, coffee shop environment covering the basics of knitting. One-on-one lesson or bring a friend with you. (2 maximum limit.) Includes knitting supplies to get you started and take home with you. No experience needed. No need to bring anything. Fee: $20 per person. Gainesville, Fl.

Knitted Cast On Video

 

The Knitted Cast On is a super easy cast on for beginners or for teaching someone to knit. It doesn't require figuring out a tail length, like the long tail cast on and is a great one to add to your repertoire of cast ons since you can use it when you need to add stitches to a work in progress.

2021 Charity Donations

 2021 Charity Donations

KnitTogether donated 71 knitted items: 12 shawls, 18 hats, 22 lap throws/blankets, 10 scarves/cowls and 9 miscellaneous items. Items were donated to Haven Hospice, Ronald McDonald House, Faithful Friends Pet Rescue and the Comfort Program.

"Knitting I-cord Edges" video

Here's how to knit i-cord edges on your project while you are knitting. This is a great edge if you need a firmer edge like on a blanket or where you don't need much stretch, like a scarf. (Also known as Triple Selvedge.) Directions are also in video below.

+6 stitches RS (first 3 sts): sl1 wyib, sl1 wyif, K1 RS (last 3 sts): K1, sl1 wyif, P1 WS (first 3 sts): sl1 wyib, K1, sl1 wyif WS (last 3 sts): sl1 wyif, K1, P1 Repeat these two rows for the i cord edge. Happy Knitting.

Hygge Rug

 

The Hygge Rug is a comforting, easy knit. Find a soft bulky yarn, or combine several strands of worsted and make your own bulky yarn. It’s easily adaptable to other sizes but you’ll always get a useful, easy-to-wash rug. And it's free.

Flagstone Rug

 

I designed this pattern for the project in a knitting class that recycled tee shirts for yarn. It's a free pattern for an introductory period. 

Knit in a simple slip stitch pattern that produces a firm, strong rug that won’t curl, this recycling-friendly project lets you use up old tee shirts with very little worry about stains or holes. It’s easily adaptable to other sizes but you’ll always get a useful, easy-to-wash rug. Two patterns are provided. The Original Flagstone pattern (top photo) and a Garter Flagstone (middle and bottom photos). Instructions for making tee yarn are also included.

Hygge Head & Wrist Warmers

 

A relaxing knit project which doesn't take a lot of yarn or time. Would make great gifts. Inspired by the book, **Hygge, A guide to happy living with recipes and tips**  that says, "hygge makes life better in the simplest of ways".

A simple rolled edge, straight knitting, basic decreases for a good fit, you can truly enjoy the process as well as the finished product. And it's free!

I used a couple of stashed yarns - a merino and a gifted alpaca hank from a girlfriend who used to raise alpacas. The combination made a heathered blend that is soft and comfortable.

Ripples on a Koi Pond

 

Ponds on our property are not only peaceful spots to relax but bring all kinds of wildlife. Everything from frogs to deer show up. Last year, we added goldfish to one of the larger ponds and watching them feed on the floating food made me think of this shawl project.

Pattern is for a stole/scarf size, but provides a larger size for a shawl. Your choice.

Terra Cotta Garden Shawl

Here's a pattern for a simple lace, rectangular shawl with nice drape. Shown in a dk weight, but you can use any weight yarn, depending how warm you want it. Adjust needle size so the yarn has a soft drape.
