Luminous Cowl Pattern

Available for free until 7/1/20. Enjoy!
A wonderfully soft cowl that is as much a joy to knit as it is to wear. A mere 59 grams makes it light enough for wearing indoors as an accessory, but it is long enough to fold and tuck inside your jacket to enjoy the warmth of the merino and mohair. The project uses very little yardage, so you can splurge on the yarn.
This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download

Suspended Scallop Cast On

This cast-on produces a beautiful edge to your work which is a refreshing change from Garter, Seed or Rib Stitch. It’s a six row cast-on and then you can proceed with your pattern (shown above with Stockinette stitch). There is only one row that involves turning and paying attention and I have divided it into sections and added stitch markers so you can keep track while completing the row.

Abbreviations

CO - Cast On
double wrap – wrap working yarn around needle twice before knitting the st.
K – Knit
KCO – cast on using Knitted Cast On method

P – Purl
pm – place marker
P7tog – Purl 7 sts together
R - Row
Rd - Round
RHN – right hand needle
RS – right side of work
sl 1 – slip stitch
sl 1 wyib – slip stitch with yarn in back
sl 1 wyif – slip stitch with yarn in front
sm – slip marker
st/s – stitch/es
WS – wrong side of work

Notes

  • If you have done short rows or knitted bobbles where there is turning back and forth in a row, you can certainly leave out the stitch markers. They are there to help keep track of row 4 and are optional.
  • Mark the right side of your work after row 1 with a split marker.
  • Changing instructions for in-the-round involves more than changing the multiple, Knits to Purls and visa versa. I will publish these instructions when they are completed and tested.
